The EC Group Story

In 1999, Tom Sudyk, Chairman and founder of EC Group International established e-commerce operations in Chennai, India. 

The vision for expanding to India served two purposes. One purpose was to provide small- and medium-sized US companies safe access to the abundant sotware engineering talent India had to offer. The second purpose was to establish a company that would make a difference to the people it touched. 

EC Group is more than just a business; it is a business with a mission. We believe it is our duty to not only provide professional services but to also be a blessing to our employees, their families, our community and the great nation of India. Time has proven that these values have created a competitive advantage by attracting and retaining some of the best talent in the industry.

Thomas Sudyk


Tom formed EC Group in 1999 and is well-versed in the complexities of domestic and international business. He is respected for his straightforward approach and has guided a number of for-profit and non-profit organizations through financial and managerial difficulties. He serves as a director on a number of boards and is a principal in companies with operations in North America, India, and China.


Timothy Daniel

Chief Operations Officer

Tim joined the EC Group management team in 2007. Tim has over 30 years of experience in working with the Indian IT services industry having worked in a variety of technical and managerial positions. Tim has an in-depth knowledge and experience of managing large-scale outsourced teams for major European customers in industries such as logistics and financial services.


Mike Sudyk


Mike joined the team in 2012. An entrepreneur at heart with a passion for technology, start-ups and changing the world through business, he is driven by the desire to be a good steward of his talents. When he’s not discussing EC Group’s services or networking with customers, he can be found wrestling with his kids or on a date with his wife April. Mike is a proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.


Daniel Jacob

VP - Human Resources

Daniel joined EC Group in 2005. Holding a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Technology, MBA in Human Resource Management and Master’s in Labor Management, Daniel heads the HR Operations at EC Group with demonstrated strengths that include assessing organizational needs and implementing initiatives that enhance the employee engagement. Recently Daniel was chosen by The World HRD Congress as one of the “50 Most Talented HR Leaders in India.


Laurel Verburg

VP – US Operations

Laurel’s role as VP of US Operations allows her to tap into her history of project management and multitasking. After years of international experience, she now brings her cross-cultural expertise to enhance her work with the EC Group/DataSoft team and our wide variety of clients since 2015. Laurel is responsible for the ongoing management of customer accounts and US office operations.
