Seminar on Physical Fitness

How many seminars have you been to where it required exercise? Probably not many, but this week all of our Datasoft employees got to do a bit of huffing and puffing at a seminar on physical fitness. If you’re a developer, you can relate to the feeling of sitting in front of a computer all day. I’m not a developer, but I do spend a fair amount of time behind a screen. I find that I either have days where my body turns so stiff I feel like I might freeze and become a statue, or I have days where my muscles are used so little I wonder if they’ll work anymore when I try and stand up.

Obesity, lack of physical activity, stress, poor nutrition are among India’s top health risks–just like the United States. Young professionals have begun to discover that they have high cholesterol, diabetes, and hypertension. We really don’t want our people to suffer from illnesses that are so preventable, which is why we felt it was our responsibility to help educate our staff on some of the health concerns of today’s corporate community.

Dr. John Paul, an acclaimed physiotherapist, visited EC Group’s developers. He got everyone moving with important exercises and stretches meant to help with stiffness that can be caused by sitting at a computer all day. Most of our developers also ride motorcycles to work everyday. Imagine how stressed your back could get after driving 25 miles on a motorcycle every day (through Chennai Traffic, none the less). One of the ways to avoid ill health is to teach the employees some physical exercise so that they can do every day at home for a few minutes. By doing this, everyone can be more physically and mentally fit.
